From 27 June to 31 July, the Bayerische Staatsoper will be opening its doors for the 2013 Munich Opera Festival.

TERENCE KOHLER'S "HELDEN" (HEROES) LIVE AND FREE ON STAATSOPER.TV

On June 1st, the evening's performance of Terence Kohler's Helden will be available as a live-stream. This will be the second ballet to be streamed live and free of charge and the eighth total live-stream of the 2012/13 season on STAATSOPER.TV.

Cast change: "La traviata" on May 23 and 26

For health reasons, Dan Ettinger will be unable to conduct the performance of La traviata�on May 23 and 26. Carlo Montanaro�will be conducting the Bayerisches Staatsorchester.

Richard Siegal receives Munich Dance Award

Richard Siegal receives the Munich Dance Award. The price endowed with 10,000 Euros is awarded every three years to Munich-based artists or ensembles who contribute actively to the diverse cultural landscape of the Bavarian capital.

The 2013/14 Season

To mark the 50th anniversary of the reopening of the National Theatre, the 2013/14 season focuses on the theme of "How one becomes what one is". As in 1963, the 2013/14 season will open with Richard Strauss‘ Die Frau ohne Schatten.

STAATSOPER.TV: Watch opera live and online

In 2012/13, the Bavarian State Opera will be the first international opera house to present, with STAATSOPER.TV, a season with live streams online free of charge.
