Nikolaus Bachler) and celebrate Wagner even before his upcoming 200th birthday in 2013.
The Bavarian State orchestra is led by General Music Director
Kent Nagano in his first full
Ring ever. The cast in
Das Rheingold includes the Danish Bass-baritone
Johan Reuter as Wotan in his House debut, Mezzo
Sophie Koch as Fricka,
Wolfgang Koch as Alberich,
Stefan Margita as Loge and
Aga Mikolaj as Freia.
Kent Nagano: "Richard Wagner's
Ring des Nibelungen is a unique work of art, as everyone knows. Its weight in terms of content as a drama and a tragedy and the challenge it contains for its recipients, for the audience, is matched by the enormous amount of work demanded of everyone involved. Everything is of central importance about and in this work, which is actually unique in the history of culture, and its productions and performances are also always accompanied and followed with particular attention and in-depth discussions."
