On July 29 and 30, 2009, Anna tanzt IV – Anna wird alt (Anna dances IV – Anna becomes old) was presented on the stage of the Muffathalle. This is the central project of the youth programme of the Bavarian State Ballet.
In five sold-out performances students of the eighth year of the St. Anna Secondary School, the graduating class of the school of Berufsvorbereitung (school preparing to enter professional life) in Bogenhausen, Munich, and a group of thirty old (beyond 65) people presented the result of their research on the theme “The view of young people on old age”. It was a finely differentiated performance, both dramatically and visually. Director Horst Konietzny and choreographer Lenka Flory had succeeded in integrating the extraordinary media world of images of the Australian video artist Suzon Fuks with life performances, interviews and portraits of all 110 participants into a demanding artistic stage work.
An extensive documentation in book form of the stage project, the installation of the media academy and the results of a conference on the subject is to be published by end October.
In the course of the fourth congress “Children to Olymp” the Bavarian minister of education Dr. Ludwig Spaenle presented the “Prize of Future” with 15.000 Euro from the PwC Foundation to the project “Anna dances – Anna becomes old” on the stage of the Munich Kammerspiele.
Dr Ingrid Neuner, director of the St. Anna Gymnasium (= secondary school) and Bettina Wagner-Bergelt, deputy director of the Bavarian State Ballet and responsible for the concept of “Anna dances”, received the prize. It is to be for the further development of the project within the frame of the programme for children and young people of the Bavarian State Ballet, said the speaker of the foundation.
This was the second time the project was awarded a prize. In 2008 the project “Anna dances”, then in its fourth year, was awarded the title “Ausgewählter Ort” (chosen place) within the campaign of the Federal Government “Germany – Land of Ideas”.
