Programme for the 2014/15 season
Ground-breaking choreographers of the past 100 years, all of whom profoundly influenced dance in Germany with their creations, will stand at the centre of attention in the following season. In addition, we will celebrate the 25th birthday of one of the biggest companies in 'Tanzland' Germany – our very own.
Der gelbe Klang, a triple bill inspired by Kandinsky's synaesthetic concept, will launch the season. Les Ballets Russes, also a triple-header, will feature Shéhérazade, Les Biches and Once Upon an Ever After. The Lady of the Camellias will also return to the repertory as of October.
A highlight among the classics thought lost but restored is Paquita, premiere scheduled for December, in a choreography by Alexei Ratmansky according to the version by Petipa. This reconstruction has kept an entire team of dramaturges, dance academics and music scholars busy for years. The premiere of José Limón’s The Exiles will also feature the revival of Forsythe's Artifact II and Kylián's Zugvögel which was created specifically for the Munich company.
For the opening of the Ballet Festival Week 2015, Richard Siegal, whose highspeed-choreography Unitxt from 2013 proved a blockbuster, will create a whole evening programme for the ensemble. Afterwards, we invite you to celebrate with us and all our artists during our TanzFest in the National Theatre. We also welcome Martin Schläpfer’s Ballett am Rhein to Munich during the Festival Week. Schläpfer’s company will give guest performances of 7, en evening set to Gustav Mahler's 7th Symphony.
July’s programme will include The Triadic Ballet / Le Sacre du printemps, the latter to be accompanied by the Munich Symphonic Orchestra. We also look forward to performances of Onegin, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummernight's Dream, four Heinz-Bosl-matinées, in which the Junior Company will present its newest creations, and an exciting Campus-programme for children and adolescents.
Stage Dinner on September 16, 2014
The Stage Dinner will be held on behalf of the child and youth project CAMPUS. The entirety of the evening's proceeds will help support the many opportunities and projects for children, youths and young adults. The CAMPUS programme is dedicated to imparting knowledge and joy of dance, music and theatre as well as fostering young talent. Children from diverging sociocultural backgrounds are thus led to experience the exciting world of opera, ballet and the orchestra.
