Since it was founded over 130 years ago, the Munich Opera Festival has not lost any of its original appeal: When the Festival, which has the longest tradition internationally of its type, begins at the end of June 2013, opera lovers from Munich, Germany and the rest of the world will come together to share their enthusiasm for musical theatre with each other.

In 2013, the Festival will be dominated by two composers who have fundamentally influenced opera history: Giuseppe Verdi and Richard Wagner will be at its heart this year – right on time for the 200th birthday of both of them. The start of the Festival this year will therefore be marked by the premiere of Giuseppe Verdi's Il trovatore on 27 June.

The remaining tickets will go on sale on 23 March 2013.
