The Munich Opera Festival 2014

Das Nationaltheater während der Münchner Opernfestspiele
Since its founding more than 130 years ago, the Munich Opera Festival has lost nothing of its attraction: When the international festival with the richest history of its kind begins again at the end of June 2014, friends of opera from Munich, from Germany and from all over the world will set out to share their enthusiasm for musical theatre together.

At the beginning of the festival is the premiere of Gioachino Rossini's Guillaume Tell. The young producer Antú Romero Nunes will be in charge of the stage production while musical direction will be taken on by Dan Ettinger. The festival's second new production, Claudio Monteverdi's L'Orfeo, will premiere on 20 July at Prinzregententheater. Musical direction will be in the hands of Ivor Bolton while direction will be the responsibility of David Bösch.

In addition, all new productions of the 2013/14 season and many other star-studded productions from the repertoire of the Bayerische Staatsoper will be on the programme. Chamber music concerts, evenings devoted to Lieder and, of course, two evenings with Opera for All will fill out the programme.

Initial ticket sales for the 2014 Opera Festival will start on Saturday, 25 January 2014, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. exclusively at the box office on Marstallplatz. Tickets for categories V - VIII will be sold. For those buying, a maximum of four seats per performance will be given out.

Processing of written orders will begin on 1 February 2014. All orders received by that date will be treated equally. We request you not to make enquiries before the middle of March.

Sales of remaining tickets will start on 29 March 2014 at the box office, by telephone or on the internet.
