Giuseppe Verdi
Francesco Maria Piave
Ten years after
Rigoletto - ten years before
Aida, in 1862, the genius of Italian opera succeeded with
forza in creating an anti-war drama of everlasting validity. Hackneyed viewing habits as a force of (operatic) destiny have most people often completely misunderstanding this work as a mere "singer's opera". The new production and opening première of the 2005 Munich Opera Festival will reveal individual human action before a political background. The production is in the hands of David Alden with Fabio Luisi on the podium. A Verdi for eyes "and" ears is thus guaranteed.
