First Soloist Ekaterina Petina was born in Sevastopol. Ten years old she started training at the Waganova Academy in St. Petersburg. In 2001 she assumed her first engagement at the Mariinsky Theatre St. Petersburg where she among others danced solo parts in Balanchine’s Rubies, Forsythe’s In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated, Approximate Sonata, Steptext and several fairies in Sleeping Beauty. She also participated in various Mariinsky Theatre tours across Japan, England, China, Canada and Mexico. Soloist Emma Barrowman was born in Sherbrook/Canada. She received her dance education at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School and gained important experience at the Cannes Jeune Ballet under the direction of Monique Loudières. At the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company she danced in Swan Lake, Nutcracker and The Magic Flute by Mark Godden. Emma Barrowman became an Apprentice of the Bavarian State Ballet in autumn 2006. One year later she became a member of the corps de ballet and was engaged as a soloist in the season 2010/2011. First Soloist Wlademir Faccioni was born in Brazil and was trained in the Munich Ballett-Akademie/Heinz-Bosl-Stiftung. In 2002 he joined the Bavarian State Ballet as an apprentice and became a member of the corps de ballet in January 2003. His repertoire includes Jiří Kylián's Six Dances and Svadebka, Hans van Manen’s Solo and a prominent part in Itzik Galilis So nah so fern. His first choreography Vivace (on music by Vivaldi) was created in 2004 as part of the State Ballet’s Young Choreographers Programme. He was promoted to a Soloist at the beginning of the season 2007/2008 and dances as a First Soloist since the beginning of the season 2011/12. Principal dancer Roberta Fernandes is from Brazil. Her most important teachers there were Eugênia Feodorova, Rosália Verlangieri and Emilio Martins. From 1991 until 1993 she attended the John-Cranko-School in Stuttgart and received her first engagement with the Stuttgart Ballet under the direction of Marcia Haydée. She was appointed soloist in 1998. Her repertoire includes Opus I by John Cranko, Voluntaries by Glen Tetley, the Pas de Deux of Holbergs Zeiten (John Cranko), Myrtha in Giselle (Reid Anderson and Valentina Savina), Aurora and Elderfairy in Sleeping Beauty (Marcia Haydée) and Kitri in Don Quijote (Maximiliano Guerra). She danced in Brouillards and Initialien R.B.M.E. (John Cranko), Monotones (Frederick Ashton), Herman Schmerman, Aproximate Sonata, Love Songs and Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude (William Forsythe), Siebte Sinfonie (Uwe Scholz), Manon and Prudence in Lady of the Camellias by John Neumeier and the leading role in Theme and Variations (George Balanchine). In Munich Roberta Fernandes could extend her large classic and particularly contemporary repertoire, for example Gamzatti and first solo in the Schattenakt in La Bayadère (P. Soloist Stephanie Hancox was born in Australia and started her training at the Tanya Pearson Classical Coaching Academy in Sydney. In January 2001, Stephanie came to Munich to complete her training at Ballett-Akademie/Heinz-Bosl-Foundation. Among others she danced the Corsaire-Pas de deux, in Paquita, in Light Fandango (Robert North) as well as a solo in In the Future (Hans van Manen). In September 2003 she became member of the Bavarian State Ballet. In season 2004/2005 she danced in Forsythe’s Limb´s Theorem and Hans van Manen’s Black Cake. First Soloist Katherina Markowskaja was born in Kiev, Ukraine where she completed her training at the National Ballet Academy of Arts. As a student, she was cast in performances of the National Ballet of Kiev. At the age of sixteen, she accepted a scholarship of the Heinz-Bosl-Foundation, offered to her by Konstanze Vernon. Ms. Markowskaja graduated from the Ballet-Academy Munich and subsequently joined the Saxon State Opera Ballet Dresden under artistic director Vladimir Derevianko. She was promoted to the rank of first soloist two years later. In 1999, she received the Mary Wigman Award. Her repertory includes, among others, classical principal roles such as Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Giselle, Kitri (Don Quijote), Lise (La Fille mal gardée), Bianca (The Taming of the Shrew – Cranko) and Otilie (Wahlverwandtschaften – Schilling) as well as in John Neumeier's ballets Natalia and Princess Claire (Illusions – like Swan Lake), Marie (Nutcracker), Hermia (A Midsummer Night's Dream), Rosalind (As you like it) and Chloé (Daphnis and Chloé). Since 2010, she works as a freelance ballerina and trains with the Bavarian State Ballet. Since the beginning of the season 2012/13 she is a First Soloist. During her young career she already won different kind of dance awards, such as the NBA Ballet Competition of Japan 2004, the Saitama Dance Competition of Japan 2005 and in 2007 she received the audience award at the Prix de Lausanne. First Soloist Karen Azatyan, born in Armenia, started his dance education at the Yerevan Dancing Art State College and completed it in 2007 at the Dance Academy in Zurich. During his time in Zurich he received the second price at the competition “Tanz Olymp Berlin 2005” in the category classic variation and in the same year the Prix de Lausanne scholarship and won the young promising dancer award of the international ballet competition Varna in 2006. From the season 2007/2008 on, he has joined the Bavarian State Ballet as a member of the Corps de ballet and becam a soloist in autumn 2010. Soloist Léonard Engel was born in Mulhouse / France and was trained at the Paris Opera Ballet School. In his last year at the Ballet Academy he danced in Cinderella at the Paris Opera Ballet. First Soloist Karen Azatyan, born in Armenia, started his dance education at the Yerevan Dancing Art State College and completed it in 2007 at the Dance Academy in Zurich. During his time in Zurich he received the second price at the competition “Tanz Olymp Berlin 2005” in the category classic variation and in the same year the Prix de Lausanne scholarship and won the young promising dancer award of the international ballet competition Varna in 2006. From the season 2007/2008 on, he has joined the Bavarian State Ballet as a member of the Corps de ballet and becam a soloist in autumn 2010. Soloist Gözde Özgür was born in Ankara/Turkey and was trained at the State Conservatorium Ankara. At the age of 15 she joined the Ballet Academy Zürich, where she received her diploma in 2008. She joined the Corps de ballet of the Bavarian State Ballet in the season 2008/2009. She danced a solo variation in Jiří Kylián's creation Zugvögel. First Soloist Wlademir Faccioni was born in Brazil and was trained in the Munich Ballett-Akademie/Heinz-Bosl-Stiftung. In 2002 he joined the Bavarian State Ballet as an apprentice and became a member of the corps de ballet in January 2003. His repertoire includes Jiří Kylián's Six Dances and Svadebka, Hans van Manen’s Solo and a prominent part in Itzik Galilis So nah so fern. His first choreography Vivace (on music by Vivaldi) was created in 2004 as part of the State Ballet’s Young Choreographers Programme. He was promoted to a Soloist at the beginning of the season 2007/2008 and dances as a First Soloist since the beginning of the season 2011/12. Soloist Ilia Sarkisov was born in Moscow and trained in Israel. At the age of 16 he came to Munich to study at the Ballet Academy/Heinz-Bosl-Stiftung. He joined the Bavarian State Ballet in season 2004-05 as an apprentice. He received the Bavarian State Award for promising talents in the Performing Arts in autumn 2004. He joined the Corps de ballet of the Bavarian State Ballet in the season 2005/2006 and was promoted to s Soloist at the beginning of the season 2011/12.
