The International Festival of Music and Dance is held in the extraordinary setting of Granada's Alhambra, the Generalife Gardens, monasteries and the cathedral. It should have any sensible music enthusiast booking the first available plane for Southern Spain. Around the Alhambra and all over the city the streets are filled with the sound of Spanish guitars, the click of castanets, the whirl of flamenco dancing and much more.
The programme features around 40 shows, among which the Bavarian State Ballett will present its exquisite Swan Lake along with a Mixed Bill Steps & Times (Song from the Earth/Mahler, Voices of Spring/Strauss a.s.o.) As well as the larger concerts in the Alhambra, there are performances in civic centres, chapels, churches, cafés and clubs throughout the city, which range from small classical ensembles to jazz and world music.
