In 2010 as well, there will be two Opera for All performances during the Munich Opera Festival! On two days, the Bavarian State Opera invites you to enjoy an opera and a concert evening in an easy-going, laid-back atmosphere on the Max-Joseph-Platz. Admission to both events is free!
On June 26, the Festival Concert with the Bavarian State Orchestra under the musical direction of Kent Nagano is on the schedule. Besides Claude Debussy’s symphonic poem La mer, Richard Strauss’s Alpine Symphony will be performed. As in the previous two years, ATTACA, the Bavarian State Opera’s youth orchestra will be sharing the program. The young musicians will open the concert, this time with Debussy’s Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune.
On Saturday, July 10, the new production of Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca will be transmitted live to Max-Joseph-Platz. This third performance of the opera, like the 2010 festival opening night, features an all-star cast. With Karita Mattila as Floria Tosca and Jonas Kaufmann as Mario Cavaradossi, two of today’s most sought-after artists world-wide will be singing the leading roles. On the podium: Fabio Luisi.
